New upgrades improve the fun and functionality of Ruben Dario Park

(MIAMI, June 16, 2015) — The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and Miami-Dade County District 10 Commissioner, Senator Javier D. Souto, invite residents to join them at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, as they dedicate the newly completed development at Ruben Dario Park, 9825 W. Flagler St., Miami.

The park improvements include new entrance-roadway lighting, access control fencing, a park sign, and six new benches at Ruben Dario Memorial Plaza.

Recreational amenities for the 15-acre park include two tennis courts, racquetball facilities, a recreation center, a picnic shelter, and four basketball courts.

“I am very pleased to see this new development project completed at Ruben Dario Park.  This is a fine example of how our Parks Department is enhancing our community’s livability through the beautification and revitalization of our parks and open spaces,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez.

“What a great day for Ruben Dario Park. These necessary improvements will help us sustain this park as a fun recreation hub for neighbors and their children for years to come,” said Commissioner Souto.

“Ruben Dario Park is a vital part of this growing community. New development like this creates greater accessibility and appeal for park visitors,” said Miami-Dade Parks Director Jack Kardys.

The project cost was approximately $278,000.  Funding was provided by the “Building Better Communities” General Obligation Bond Program, a Community Development Block Grant and Park Impact Fees.
