Fit2Play Scholarship Fund
To take the lead in Miami-Dade County in combating childhood obesity, Miami-Dade Parks created the Fit-to-Play: Health, Wellness and Obesity Prevention Out-of-School and Summer Camp programs. The Parks Foundation believes that parks are conduits to a healthy lifestyle, promoting physical and emotional well-being.
In an effort to support programs and facilities that provide health and wellness initiatives to the Miami-Dade County population, Parks Foundation has established a scholarship fund for disadvantaged youth to help offset the costs of attending these programs.
Leisure Access Foundation
The Leisure Access Foundation was created in 1991 to improve opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in quality leisure programs, both recreational and competitive. People with disabilities are a minority, who have historically been severely disadvantaged and overlooked in the area of recreation and leisure.
By supporting the Leisure Access Foundation, the Parks Foundation along with Miami-Dade Parks has helped create a healthier, more livable and sustainable community for adults and people with disabilities.
Senior Programs
Miami-Dade Parks provides a wide variety of senior programs for adults ages 55 and older. Supporting the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade can help provide more evidenced-based programs for seniors at a greater number of facilities throughout the County, ensuring our seniors maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.
