| NATURE OF WORK
This is entry-level professional budget analysis work for the Miami-Dade County Office of Strategic Business Management (OSBM).
Employees in this class are responsible for assisting Budget Analysts in the analysis of departmental operating and capital budgets from development of the annual budget to year-end close out. Duties include providing assistance to budgetary and financial-related employees in the preparation, analysis, monitoring and reporting on departmental operating and capital budgets. Related responsibilities include conducting financial and programmatic research, performing data entry and spreadsheet development tasks, and conducting budget-related special assignments. Supervision is received from a professional superior who reviews work for conformance with established policies and procedures.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Provides assistance to Budget Analysts in the analysis of operating and capital budgets from budget development to year-end close-out.
Assists Budget Analysts with budget preparation, analysis, monitoring and reporting.
Conducts financial and programmatic research and budget-related special assignments, as assigned.
Performs data entry and spreadsheet development update tasks as assigned.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of research techniques and the sources and availability of current information.
Knowledge of the organization and operation of County departments and agencies.
Knowledge of budget preparation rules, regulations and procedures.
Knowledge of the principles of management and public administration.
Ability to provide effective assistance in the preparation, analysis, monitoring and reporting of departmental operating and capital budgets.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and a variety of other public officials.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
Ability to operate personal computer database and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to work independently.
