| Eighth grade. Must possess a Driver license and a State of Florida Limited Certification for Structural Pest Control. Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Seaport Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification, and other such procedures as may be mandated by federal, state, or local requirements. | Nature of Work
This is supervisory work with administrative responsibility in cargo gate operations for the Miami-Dade Seaport Department.
Employees in this class are responsible for supervising a staff of Seaport Gate Systems Operators. Responsibilities include developing work schedules, handling customer complaints, and assuring that funds are collected in accordance with departmental accounting guidelines. Supervision is exercised over a staff of Seaport Gate System Operators engaged in the operations of the Gate Security System/Stars including the issuance of gate passes for trucks, ID verification, truck scales operation, the collection of cargo release forms and the photo recording of truckers and their cargo documentation and the collection of monies from the truckers. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work through written reports and personal conferences for satisfactory gate security system operations.
Illustrative Tasks
Plans, assigns and review the work of Seaport Gate System Operators engaged in the operation of the Gate Systems/Gamma-Ray System that includes issuing gate passes for trucks using the County Seaport; troubleshoots and assists with the smooth operations of the system.
Supervises and directs the operation of Seaport cargo entrance facilities, which include ID verification, truck scales, the collection of cargo release forms and the photo recording of truckers and their cargo documentation and the collection of monies from the truckers.
Operates mobile equipment, mobile radios and other equipment, as required.
Makes recommendations regarding hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates; authorizes leave and overtime; evaluates and rates employee performance.
Performs related work as required.
