| NATURE OF WORK
This is advanced clerical and technical work in controlling departmental information processed by a central data processing operation. Employees in this class establish and maintain control of computer processed information applying significant knowledge of departmental data processing requirements. Duties include analysis of the causes of abnormal results on departmental computerized reports, maintaining effective working results on departmental computerized reports, maintaining effective working relationships with departmental and central data processing personnel, coordinating the scheduling of information processing and training data control employees in appropriate information processing techniques as assigned. Incumbents apply significant knowledges of departmental data processing policies and procedures to a variety of data control activities. Responsibilities may include the operation of some data processing peripheral equipment in the performance of assigned duties. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for conformance with established departmental data processing policies and procedures and for effectiveness of data control operations.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Reviews computer generated reports to verify that information submitted for data entry has been properly recorded and processed; reconciles and updates computer reports with a variety of individual project records to ensure accuracy of reports to be submitted to Federal agencies. Schedules appointments with project personnel, visiting assigned projects and training designated employees in established data control techniques requiring knowledge of departmental rules and regulations and Federal laws, rules and regulations. Maintains working relationships with a variety of technical personnel at a central data processing operation regarding feasibility of alternative methods of arranging information on user departmental printouts; studies computer printouts which do not produce expected results, defines the cause of the problem and refers to central data processing personnel in order to initiate corrective action.
Applies significant knowledges of the county-wide personnel data processing system to a variety of data control problems; contacts representatives of county departments to clarify information on incoming personnel documents; withholds personnel documents from the data processing system or adds documents based upon adherence to complex established personnel policies and procedures.
Establishes new accounts, index codes, project identification numbers, names and categories of accounts for use be departmental personnel in processing computer entry forms and for assuring the appropriate organization of information on computer printouts. Coordinates scheduling for the processing of departmental data processing jobs with a central data processing operation; reviews or rearranges schedules according to departmental or central data processing requirements; prepares schedules for pick-up and delivery of data for the department. Coordinates work of assigned clerical and technical employees engaged in the verification and preparation of source documents for computer application; trains employees in data control techniques as assigned; coordinates the receipt and issue of information with other departmental accounting units. Performs related work as required.

Considerable knowledge of established procedures for control of data processing information within the assigned department. Considerable knowledge of the content of information on source documents for computer entry. Considerable knowledge of the established arrangement of departmental information on computer printouts. Knowledge of basic data processing systems and related peripheral equipment utilized in an operating department. Knowledge of departmental rules, regulations and procedures applicable to data control operations. Knowledge of departmental reporting requirements relating to the preparation and reconciliation of computer printouts.
