Operating Systems Programmer

ETSD is the central technology provider for Miami-Dade County, overseeing the use of existing and emerging technologies in support of County government operations and services to the public. Currently we are seeking an experienced Operating Systems Programmer who will be responsible for design, architecture, and hands-on implementation of WebSphere Portal and related middleware components in support of various MDC Departments and their customers in three environments: Integration, Staging and Production. This is a technical position that involves a blend of skills with a high focus on technical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to customers. Specific products to be supported include WebSphere Application Server (v5 or greater), WebSphere Portal Server (v5), IBM HTTP Server on AIX, RedHat Linux and Windows Server 2000/2003. Duties other than those specified may be assigned: Perform customer-facing engagements in the technology areas described above; Participate in technical pre-sales activity to communicate our approach and value-added services for Middleware technology; Build proof-of-concept systems and demonstration environments for both internal and customer requests; Must understand security and integration features of portal, such as WebSphere Global Security, SSO, portals credential vault, SSL, LDAP, and WebSphere Member Manager; TIM/TAM integration. Must have at least intermediate experience with relational databases, preferable DB2 UDB, Oracle and MS SQL. The successful candidate must have completed 60 semester credits to include 15 semester credits in a computer related field OR the Completion of an information technology certification (Novel, UNIX, Microsoft, Oracle) and three to 5 years of advanced programming and/or system maintenance and problem determination experience are required.

This is advanced technical work planning, designing and implementing operational procedures utilizing various computer hardware and sofware systems in a centralized data processing operation.
