| NATURE OF WORK
This is advance professional supervisory work overseeing the re-drafting of Chapter 33 (Zoning) Code of Miami-Dade County for the Department of Planning and Zoning. An employee in this class serves as the Zoning Code Re-Write Project Manager. Responsibilities include coordinating the work of the Zoning Code Re-Write Staff and Committee; preparing a draft ordinance of Chapter 33 (Zoning) Code; organizing and advertising public meetings and hearings; presenting the Revised Zoning Code Draft Ordinance and Adopted Ordinance to elected officials and the public. General supervision is received from a professional superior who reviews work for achievement of desired results.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Directs and oversees the re-drafting of Chapter 33 (Zoning) Code.
Coordinates the work of the Zoning Code Re-Write Staff and Committee.
Prepares a draft ordinance of Chapter 33 (Zoning) Code.
Organizes and advertises public meeting and hearings.
Presents Revised Zoning Code Draft Ordinance and Adopted Ordinance to elected officials and the public.
KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of sound planning and zoning principles and practices.
Knowledge of the land use characteristics of the unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County.
Knowledge of Miami-Dade County's Comprehensive Development Master Plan Land Use Element, Chapter 33 and (Zoning), Chapter 28 (Subdivision) Code of Miami-Dade County. and the ability to interpret the concepts currently contained within these documents.
KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES AND SKILLS CONT'D
Knowledge of the regulations contained within the South Florida Building Code, and other regulatory codes which dictate design, site planning, etc. for projects within unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
Knowledge of land use law and the application of such law to zoning regulations and land use.
Ability to interpret the concepts contained within the Miami-Dade County Comprehensive Development Master Plan Land Use Element, Chapter 33 (Zoning) and Chapter 28 (Subdivision) Code of Miami-Dade County.
Ability to nationally research various formats and structures for the organization of contemporary zoning codes and to present such formats and structures to the Staff and Committee for decision.
Ability to formulate revised concepts for community design which incorporate the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Development Master Plan, fundamental zoning regulations and other regulatory documents.
Ability to draft a model for the revised code utilizing a common sense approach to the code's organization and language.
Ability to oversee and manage a million dollar project budget.
Ability to coordinate, organize and advertise workshops and public meetings of varying natures: citizens groups, development industry representatives, real estate representatives, appointed board members and elected public officials.
Ability to present textual and graphic information which express the details of the revised zoning regulations.
