Video Program Coordinator
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Radio/Television, or a related field. One year of experience in television program scheduling and production work is required.

NATURE OF WORK

This is responsible professional and technical work in television programming for Miami-Dade TV, a division for Miami-Dade County's Communications Department.

An employee in this class is responsible for working with the Sr. TV Producer to develop the station's on-air program schedule. Emphasis of the work is on managing the program schedule, operating and programming the on-air file server for program playback, maintaining a comprehensive video library, supervising videotape duplication services and acquisition of supplemental video programs from outside sources. General supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for technical quality of television programming and achievement of related goals and objectives.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Prepares updates and revises television program schedules, guides and information about Miami-Dade TV programming.

Composes and maintains daily television programming playlists on the MAV-70 file server, and operates other automated video playback systems to put Miami-Dade TV programs on the air.

Records local newscasts and logs any Miami-Dade County related information contained in news programs.

Completes dubbing request made by county departments, outside companies and private citizens and accepts cash and credit card payments for services provided.

Coordinates acquisition of supplemental video programs and public service announcements and their incorporation into the schedule.

Maintains videotape library for Miami-Dade TV.

Tracks advertising revenue generated by the Promotional Spots Program.

Prepares and verifies monthly billing statements for revenue from sales of videotape dubs.

Serves as member of the technical crew for studio and field productions and live meeting broadcasts as needed, operating TV production equipment like studio

cameras, video switcher, videotape machines, character generators, audio boards, teleprompter, etc.

Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Extensive knowledge of journalistic principles and practices, techniques of planning, developing, producing and evaluating video programs.

Extensive knowledge of the operating characteristics of audio-visual production, editing and duplication systems.

Through of techniques, principles and practices of television production scheduling.

Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to a governmental access cable television station.

Ability to effectively manage television program scheduling.

Ability to maintain and catalog a large videotape library.

Ability to keep abreast of the availability of new materials appropriate for cablecast on Miami-Dade TV.

Ability to operate a variety of audio-visual production, editing, duplication and on-air playback systems.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with department directors and representatives, industry contacts, the media and members of the public.
