| NATURE OF WORK
This is advanced administrative and public relations work in a graffiti removal program. An employee in this class is responsible for planning and coordinating administrative and public relations duties in a comprehensive graffiti removal program. Responsibilities include conducting public meetings, coordinating removal of graffiti-defaced surfaces, devising talent-rechanneling programs, visiting sites of graffiti defacement, coordinating efforts with other agencies and organizations, and performing related administrative functions. The incumbent exercises considerable independent judgment in formulating programs, interacting with the community and in evaluating graffiti incidents and recommending solutions. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who evaluates work for effectiveness in management of the graffiti removal program.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Conducts public meetings and presents slide presentations to schools, media, civic groups and corporate sponsors to educate students and the public on the negative impact of graffiti, recruit paint-out volunteers, raise funds, and solicit paint and supply donations. Coordinates paint-out of graffiti-defaced surfaces by establishing time, making arrangements for workers to be at the site, and providing appropriate supplies. Devises and implements talent-rechanneling programs for artistically inclined offenders to encourage development of non-graffiti public art design competitions for indoor and outdoor blank walls designated for murals; encourage business to develop similar programs; develops cash/tuition prizes and seeks media recognition. Visits sites to determine extent of graffiti offenses and work required; reviews dimensions of sites, materials, textures and colors of defaced surfaces; determines paint, supplies and number of volunteers needed. Coordinates efforts with other agencies and organizations. Receives complaints concerning graffiti incidents and offenders. Devises and implements a tracking system of sites to monitor repeat incidents. Maintains contacts with property owners concerning permission for or participation in paint-outs; offers technical assistance to others. Keeps records of supplies in stock; researches graffiti removal products. Establishes fiscal controls to account for project funds. Performs related work as required.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing. Ability to coordinate equipment, materials, supplies and personnel to accomplish the removal of graffiti-defaced surfaces.
