Team Metro Outreach Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in customer service and/or citizen outreach are required.

NATURE OF WORK

This is advanced administrative and supervisory work providing assistance to the public in the delivery of County services.

Employees in this class are responsible for supervising outreach specialists and service representatives engaged in the delivery of information, referrals and outreach services to the public. Responsibilities include supervising the processing and execution of legal enforcement documents, participating in the analysis and development of regional strategies, attending community meetings to provide information on County services and programs, and reviewing complex complaints with citizens or local groups. Incumbents exercise considerable independent judgment in the administration of public service activities designed to improve the responsiveness of Metro-Dade County government. Supervision is exercised over outreach specialists and service representatives engaged in assisting the public. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work through personal conferences and written reports and for effective administration of public service activities.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Plans, assigns and reviews the work of outreach specialists and service representatives engaged in the delivery of outreach programs, information and referral services; provides guidance and assistance on the development of action plans to alleviate complex community problems that require multi-jurisdictional solutions.

Supervises the preparation, issuance and execution of code enforcement documents; supervises the billing and issuance of liens for non-compliance penalties; provides guidance in the development of complex legal notices or complex enforcement case management; coordinates the processing of criminal cases and preparation of enforcement case histories.

Attends and participates in community meetings; organizes and coordinates community clean-up programs and enforcement campaigns; reviews complex complaints with citizens or local groups; develops action plans and communicates ideas and plans to residents.

Trains subordinates in enforcement administrative methods and legal processes; provides information to citizens concerning requirements of the County Code and other legal requirements.

Maintains activity reports and inspection statistics; develops and contributes to newsletters and other publications as required.

Monitors the timely transmission of requests for assistance to County departments.

Makes recommendations regarding hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates; authorizes leave and overtime; evaluates and rates employee performance.

Performs related work as required.

Thorough knowledge of the structure and functions of County government.

Thorough knowledge of local, state, federal and non-profit resources available to the local citizenry.

Considerable knowledge of County codes, administrative orders and departmental policies and procedures applicable to the area of assignment.

Ability to analyze and investigate requests from the public and coordinate effective service delivery.

Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with members of the public and with other public and private officials.

Ability to review complex requests for assistance and identify opportunities for the enhancement of County service delivery.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
