NATURE OF WORK

This is responsible professional and administrative work assisting the Team Metro Director in the management of departmental activities

An employee in this class is responsible for assisting the Director in the coordination and administration of various departmental activities. Responsibilities include coordinating departmental affairs with the County Manager's Office and staff of the Board of County Commissioners, coordinating a variety of matters with departmental managers and executives, analyzing and coordinating and producing new and innovative special events. Considerable independent judgment is exercised and professional knowledge applied in assisting in various phases of departmental management. Supervision is exercised over professional subordinates assisting with functions of the Director's office. General direction is received from the Department Director who holds the incumbent responsible for effective assistance in managing and coordinating departmental activities.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Serves in a liaison capacity to the County Manager's Office, staff of the Board of County Commissioners, and County Attorney's Office to implement long-range goals of the Director's office.

Coordinates work with departmental managers and executives concerning Team Metro operations, support services, agenda coordination, facilities management, planning and research.

Produces and implements a variety of special events including delivery of direct business services, logistics, graphics, marketing and public relations.

Prepares and delivers verbal and written communications for the Director including agenda briefings, inter/intra governmental communications, speech writing, public speaking, correspondence, and executive reports and briefs; coordinates meetings schedules and daily staff updates.

Makes recommendations regarding hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates; authorizes leave and overtime; evaluates and rates employee performance.

Performs related work as required.

Thorough knowledge of the mission, goals and objectives of the Team Metro Department.

Thorough knowledge of the principles of management and public administration.

Considerable knowledge of the organization and operations of the Team Metro Department.

Considerable knowledge of budget preparation, justification and reporting.

Considerable knowledge of public relations principles and techniques.

Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.

Ability to provide effective assistance to the Department Director in the management and coordination of departmental activities.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors and a variety of other public and private officials.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.

Ability to analyze and forecast departmental revenues and expenses.

Ability to provide effective assistance in preparation and review of the departmental budget.
