| NATURE OF WORK
This is project management work in the Greater Miami Service Corps for the Community Action Agency. An employee in this class is responsible for supervising field operations and performing administrative tasks to accomplish GMSC goals and prepare youthful participants for future employment. Responsibilities include preparation of long-range strategies, development of recommendations to strengthen operations, solicitation of potential sponsors, preparation of various program reports and analyses, coordination of team assignments and training activities, and monitoring Service Corps team functioning and progress. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in developing program operations and in analyzing and identifying problem areas. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for effective project development activities and achievement of program objectives.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Prepares Miami Service Corps project long-range strategies; develops statistical analyses to assist in identifying problem areas and their causes, and develops recommendations to strengthen programs and operations. Develops and implements fund-raising campaigns to obtain foundation and corporate support, and fee-for-service project sponsors. Translates long-range goals into project development strategy; develops and maintains project relationships with various municipalities and not-for-profit organizations. Directs project scheduling, team assignments and coordination with educational corpsmember development components. Prepares a variety of reports concerning project activities. Reviews functioning of teams and monitors timeliness, quality of work, and guidance and supervision. Oversees assignments of corpsmembers and creation of new teams; coordinates scheduling of team leaders, participation in residential training cycles. Maintains contacts with the media to promote interest in the GMSC. Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of the principles of management and business administration. Considerable knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Considerable knowledge of the goals and objectives of the Greater Miami Service Corps. Knowledge of the records, reports and forms required for GMSC project management. Knowledge of fund-raising techniques. Ability to develop recommendations to improve GMSC programs and operations. Ability to supervise subordinates in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors and a variety of public and private officials. Ability to acquire foundation and corporate support for Service Corps projects. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
