| NATURE OF WORK
This is advanced clerical work with supervisory responsibility in an Emergency Medical Services program in the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
An employee in this class performs specialized duties requiring a comprehensive knowledge of a variety of state regulations governing licensing and certification of Emergency Medical Service Systems. Emphasis of the work is on organizing and planning certification programs, coordinating and administering certification tests, interpreting state statues and regulations governing Emergency Medical Services, coordinating licensure and certification requirements for EMT vehicles and the department, maintaining and monitoring supplies used in the Off-Duty Regular Rescue Program and attending a variety of committee and departmental meetings. Supervision is exercised over subordinate employees engaged in the preparation of tests and assisting in various aspects of EMT services. Supervision is received from a senior fire official who holds the incumbent responsible for the efficient and effective completion of assigned tasks.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Supervises subordinate support clerks assisting in various aspects of the Emergency Medical Services Program.
Organizes and plans re-certification and certification programs at the ambulance driver, EMT and paramedic levels for the Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue Department; administers and monitors contracts with training institutions; identifies training needs for re-certification programs; maintains records of re-certification training needs for all employees.
Coordinates, prepares and administers state and departmental certification and re-certification tests; prepares test materials, schedules candidates for tests and sets up test station; administers both oral and written test in the presence of a physician and departmental officials; reviews test results with candidates.
Receives, interprets and disseminates revisions and/or additions to State statutes and regulations governing Emergency Medical Services.
Processes applications for renewal of certificates; computes fees; plans, organizes and coordinates State licensure and certification requirements for EMT vehicles and the department.
Prepares cost analysis for contractual training, certification and re-certification requirements for inclusion in budget projections; assists in the preparation of annual budget; reviews and processes invoices for contractual services.
Maintains and monitors supplies, equipment and medication used in the Off-Duty Regular Rescue Program; stocks emergency vehicles as required; conducts apparatus, supply, equipment and medication inventories after emergency responses; maintains appropriate inventory levels and operational readiness for all equipment and supplies.
Attends medical advisory committee meetings, medical director meetings and State EMS department meetings; provides local municipalities with materials and technical assistance regarding EMS Services as required.
Performs related work as required.

Considerable knowledge of a variety of state and county regulations and procedures pertaining to the licensing, certification and qualifications for the county's EMS system.
