Employees in this class are responsible for cleaning, installing, testing, repairing and maintaining backflow prevention assemblies of various sizes. ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Conducts thorough inspections to determine if repairing or overhauling backflow prevention assemblies is required.

Inspects, removes, cleans, repairs and reassembles backflow prevention assemblies; replaces defective parts and makes necessary adjustments to assure conformity with prescribed standards; conducts accuracy tests prior to and after repairs.

Makes field investigations of complaints of poor water pressure; checks for leaks.

Keeps records of assembly unit performance and assists in preparing replacement part inventories.

Completes repair reports for consumers and responsible authorities on forms approved by the department or the health agency having jurisdiction.

Uses necessary tools, gauges, manometers and other equipment to test repair and maintain backflow prevention assemblies.

Observes established safety practices and procedures.

Performs related work as required.
