Special Response Team Training Exercise
The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) in collaboration with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR), City of Miami Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Arsht Center will host a full-scaled active shooter training exercise, including an active shooter scenario. This training is part of our ongoing to commitment to the community to ensure their safety in the event of a scenario of this magnitude. The mission goal is to insert/extract tactical teams via non-traditional means in the event vehicle/ground insertion is not available at the limited access venue during a catastrophic emergency involving forcible felonious attack on multiple victims. The team of first responders plan to handle the exercise like a real workplace violence incident. MDPD, CBP and MDFR will provide personnel to play the role of the shooters along with fire rescue equipment. This exercise is comprised of several scenarios to include hostage situations.
Media is welcome to attend. Report time will be 10:15 a.m. - Parking for media vehicles will be at the parking located south of the venue's Ziff Ballet Opera House (Lot C).
All footage is embargoed until 3:00 p.m.
