MDPD to Introduce a New On-Line Reporting System

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Since October 2011, the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) has been working on implementing a new on-line reporting system.  The system will allow citizens to electronically file certain non-emergency reports as an alternative to filing a telephone report or dispatching a police officer.  This will substantially reduce the cost of having police officers take reports in person or by telephone, which expends employee hours that can be re-directed to other duties and make officers available for emergency calls.

By accessing the MDPD home page on the website www.miamidade.gov/police, citizens will be able to file reports and even include documents and/or pictures.

As part of MDPD's ongoing commitment, this new tool will enhance our ability to meet the growing needs of the community while saving money.

On Friday, May 4, 2012 detectives will be introducing this new tool and demonstrate how it works.  Please contact me directly to coordinate and schedule a time for interviews and the demonstration.
