The Miami-Dade Police Department will be conducting the Director's Investiture Ceremony at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church on Friday, March 22, 2013. The Director will be sworn into office by Israel Reyes, former Circuit Court Judge, in the presence of his community and fellow officers including past Directors. On February 01, 2013, Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez announced his selection of Assistant Director J.D. Patterson as Director of the Miami-Dade Police Department. The Board of County Commissioners unanimously accepted the Mayor's selection on February 5, 2013. “Director Patterson’s proven experience, leadership skills and unquestionable integrity make him the ideal person to lead our Police Department. He rose through the ranks and has a unique understanding of our community and the department’s operations, its policies and management,” said Mayor Gimenez.
