Miami-Dade Police Department First Teen Citizen's Police Academy

The Miami-Dade Police Department, (MDPD) will graduate its first ever Teen Citizen's Police Academy. Since 1993, Miami-Dade County residents have partaken in the Citizen’s Police Academy, geared for adults.  This experience has now been shared with our youth.  During the week long academy, teenagers had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with an array of law enforcement topics.  Participants engaged in training, where they played the role of a police officer, reviewed procedure, and were exposed to the many areas of operation that the MDPD has to offer.  Additionally, students attended classes on patrol procedures, criminal investigations, use of force, DARE, and the dangers of texting and driving.

MDPD is very proud of this program, which fosters strong relationships between law enforcement and our future leaders.

Please join us at the graduation ceremony, as we congratulate these 15 dedicated teenagers.
