This Friday, December 23rd, in time for the holiday season the Miami-Dade Police Department, Northside District, Community Oriented Policing Services Unit (COPSU) will partake in the fourth and final Home Beautification Project in 2016, to benefit a senior citizen within the district.
Starting at eight o’clock in the morning, officers from the unit and other volunteers, under the leadership of Major Ricky Carter will paint, landscape, and undertake other general repairs to the home where 66 year old retiree, Mrs. Gloria Martin, has resided for more than 30 years.
Due to unforeseen life circumstances the homeowner has fallen on hard times. Having lost her husband this past February, suffering three strokes this year, and now needing the assistance of a walker to move around, Mrs. Martin has been unable to maintain the upkeep of her home.
Major Carter’s ongoing effort to assist the seniors within the district echoes the belief that, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
Media is welcome to attend.
