The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) continues to make preparations in anticipation of Hurricane Irma. We are working together with the Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management to serve Miami-Dade County and ensure the safety of our residents and visitors. The MDPD Command Post was activated as of September 6, 2017, at 7:00 a.m. to coordinate efforts.
Currently, all sworn personnel, to include investigative units are deployed in uniform. It is anticipated that a full departmental mobilization will take effect on Friday, September 8, 2017, beginning at 6:00 a.m., with continuous and alternating 12 hour shifts for essential personnel. Emergency equipment is being prepared and staged for the storm related response.
As Hurricane Irma approaches it’s very important for residents to monitor and follow all instructions being announced by Miami-Dade County officials. Our Social Media Team continues to provide up to the minute information through our official social media platforms. Please follow us @MiamiDadePD on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Today, between 1:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m., MDPD Director Juan J. Perez will be available for interviews at MDPD Headquarters. Media will also be provided access to the MDPD Command Post, along with opportunities to film a sampling of MDPD high-water and all-terrain vehicles.
