Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Initiative

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) Motorcycle Unit continues to proactively enforce traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes and fatalities involving pedestrians and bicyclists.

With a grant received on December 2017, from the Florida Department of Transportation and the University of South Florida, the MDPD enhanced pedestrian and bicycle safety initiatives.

The program provided MDPD officers with printed materials to be distributed to the public about pedestrian and bicycle safety, and the laws governing the use of the roads.

March is Florida Bicycle Month and the continued enforcement of this safety campaign will be in effect. Officers will continue to issue warnings and citations to persons not complying with the laws.
