(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department, Intracoastal District are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred at a local convenience store. Miami-Dade Police Department personnel were dispatched to a report of a shooting whic occurred at a convenience store, located at 15290 NW 7 Avenue.  The information obtained by investigators indicates that the subject, an unidentified male, entered the convenience store and attempted to make a purchase.  The subject began to vandalize the inside of the store at which time Mr. xxxxx attempted to intervene.  Subsequently, the subject brandished a firearm and discharged one round at Mr. xxxxxxx which struck the exterior of the convenience store.  The subject fled the scene and still is at large. The investigation continues.
