(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Police Department, Robbery Bureau has arrested one of two subjects involved in an armed carjacking.
According to investigators, the victims were in town on vacation from Ohio, and visited an adult book store in the area of NW 36 Street and NW 26 Avenue. While at the adult book store, the victims met two males and engaged in conversation, agreeing to drive the two males home. While inside the victims’ vehicle, one of the males, Efrain Fuertes, produced a firearm and the second male, who is known as “Bombillo” brandished a knife. The subjects then ordered the victims to exit their vehicle and both subjects fled the area in the vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently located in the area of NW 18 Terrace and NW 26 Avenue and two males were observed walking away from vehicle. As units approached, one fled on foot and the second, Efrain Fuertes, was apprehended. A perimeter was established, and after an extensive search, the second subject remains at large.
As investigators continued to follow all leads, they were able to obtain surveillance video of the second subject entering a business to make a purchase. Investigators are seeking the assistance of the community in identifying and/or locating the subject captured on video surveillance. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers at (305) 417-TIPS (8477).
Video surveillance can obtained in the FTP site.
