The Miami-Dade Police Department, Robbery Bureau, is investigating an armed carjacking that occurred in the parking lot of a shopping mall.

According to investigators, the victim was standing near her vehicle when the subject demanded her vehicle and purse at knifepoint.  The subject then fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.  Responding officers issued a “Be on the Lookout” for the subject and the stolen vehicle.  Moments later, officers observed the stolen vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the subject refused to stop.  After a pursuit, the subject crashed into a parked vehicle on SW 5th Avenue and SW 1st Street and was taken into custody with the assistance of the City of Miami Police Department. There were no injuries reported.
