According to investigators, shortly after midnight, the victim was sitting inside her car waiting for a friend. Two black males armed with guns approached her vehicle, demanding her to open the door, when she refused one of the subjects  shot through the window striking her on the leg. The subjects reached in, grabbed the victim's purse and pulled  her out of the car. She began struggling for her purse, when a neighbor walked out and observed the situation. The subjects pointed the gun at the neighbor as he approached. The subjects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center where she remains in stable condition.
