(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Police Department, Robbery Bureau is investigating an armed robbery where multiple employees were held at gun point.
According to investigators, as employees were exiting the food establishment, they were confronted by an armed subject. He ordered them back inside the location and to lay on the ground face down, while he demanded money. The store manager was ordered to open the safe, but was unsuccessful. He then telephoned his supervisor to request for another passcode. In fear that something was going wrong at the store, she notified police. As responding officers arrived, the subject remained inside. The subject then shot at the glass door and fled on foot. He was confronted by an officer who discharged his firearm. A perimeter was established and the subject was subsequently apprehended in the area of SW 299 Street & SW 172 Avenue. During the apprehension, the subject and a Special Response Team officer were bit by K-9. They were transported to JMH South for treatment. The subject did not sustain any gunshot wounds. None of the employees were injured.
