Attempted Murder On A Law Enforcement Officer


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

While on patrol in the area of NW 71 Street & NW 15 Avenue, Robbery Intervention Detail officers drove past a male who was standing outside acting as a look out in a known high drug traffic area. The officers, in an unmarked police vehicle, attempted to make contact with the subject, who then produced a firearm and opened fire at the vehicle. The officers, still inside the unmarked vehicle, drove to safety southbound on NW 14 Place, while the subject continued to shoot at the vehicle.

A perimeter was established in the area, and witnesses advised three males fled the scene in an older model Chevy Impala with red doors. Investigators are seeking the assistance of the community in locating this vehicle and the occupants.

No officers were injured.

UPDATE 1: Through investigative means, Jonathan Gilbert, has been identified as the subject responsible for shooting at officers on, June 9, 2015. 

 No other subjects are being sought out at this time and investigators are seeking the help of the community in locating Jonathan Gilbert. He is also considered armed and dangerous.
