According to investigators, at approximately 7:19 a.m., a 911 call was received from a female stating that her sister had been shot. A City of Miami Police Department officer, who was on his way home from work, came across the incident taking place at the intersection of 64th Avenue and Miami Lakes Drive. The officer immediately approached the scene and discharged his firearm.

The female victim, Yurine Rodriguez-Perez, was airlifted to Jackson Ryder Trauma, where she is expected to recover from stab wounds. The male subject was determined deceased on scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
