MDPD Marine Patrol Effects Successful Rescue


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Marine Patrol Unit (MPU), responded to a vessel in distress call, one mile offshore of Government Cut. Upon arrival, a 22ft Concept was located capsized and 2 individuals, Jorge Chaluja and Joseph Diaz-Quesada, were located in the water and rescued by MPU officers. The victims were then transported to Watson Island in good condition, and their vessel was recovered by a local tow boat service.
