Following a fire yesterday (Thursday, February 18) at the Versailles Gardens apartment complex on Flagler Street, in which a six year-old child suffered smoke inhalation, Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) detectives have arrested the child’s mother, 32 year-old, Erica Rosello, and charged her with Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm.
Rosello’s arrest resulted from investigations conducted by detectives from MDPD’s Economic Crimes Bureau (Arson Unit) and the Special Victims Bureau (Vulnerable Victim Unit).
Detectives say that just before eight o’clock last night, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) personnel responded to a fire in apartment #104 at the Versailles Gardens complex, and rescued a six year-old female trapped inside the apartment. She was transported to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The investigators say that as MDFR tended to the child and secured the scene, Rosello fled the area. She later telephoned her mother to inquire about the child. Her mother convinced her to go to the hospital and to cooperate with investigators.
Rosello was subsequently arrested and charged
