(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- A man believed to have been responsible for the killing of two people and the wounding of another, is at Jackson South Trauma Center after being shot by police following hours-long standoff and negotiations. Shortly after 10:30 this morning, officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) Kendall District responded to calls of a shooting at a law firm located at 11420 N. Kendall Drive. Arriving officers discovered a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department (MDFR) transported the victim to the Kendall Regional Trauma Center in critical condition. The preliminary investigation revealed that the subject, Fadel Jabado, was responsible for shooting Larry Harshman at his law office. Further investigation led officers to Fadel Jabado’s last known address, located at 13570 SW 192 Street. It is there that officers discovered Bassima Jabado, his wife, and Ahmed Jabado, his son, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. MDPD personnel, detectives from the Homicide Bureau and officers from the Special Response Team, saturated the areas of SW 147 Avenue to SW 167 Avenue, and SW 184 Street to SW 200 Street, where they located a male inside a vehicle who was later identified to be Fadel Jabado. He barricaded himself inside the vehicle, armed with a gun and refused to speak with the police. MDPD negotiators were summoned to respond to the scene. Negotiators were able to initiate a dialogue with Fadel Jabado, where he stated he wanted police to shoot and kill him. After hours of negotiation, Fadel Jabado pointed his firearm at the tactical officers and shots were fired striking him several times. Tactical medics immediately responded to provide emergency care until MDFR arrived. He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital South, Trauma Center where is listed in critical condition. The motive is unclear at this time.
The police involved shooting is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The shooting and homicide is being investigated by MDPD, Homicide Bureau.
