Tires and Rims Thieves Arrested

Long term investigation leads to two arrests.

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Auto Theft Investigators from the Miami-Dade Police Department, Hammocks and Kendall Districts, concluded a two year investigation that led to the arrest of two individuals involved in the thefts and illegal sale of tires and rims.

During the course of the investigation, Mark A. Brooks, was identified as one of the individuals responsible for several thefts.  Investigators developed probable cause for the arrest of Brooks and arrested him the afternoon of September 21, 2018.

That same evening, one the theft victims located his stolen rims for sale on the internet and immediately contacted police.  Auto Theft Investigators quickly developed an undercover plan to meet with the individual selling the tires and rims.  During the undercover operation, investigators met with Jean Pierre Madrigal to negotiate the sale.  During the meeting, investigators were successful in identifying the rims, as the ones stolen from the victim’s vehicle.  Madrigal was arrested and further investigation revealed that he was in possession of more stolen rims and tires, which he kept inside his garage.  Investigators interviewed Madrigal and learned that Brooks sold him the stolen rims and tires.

Investigators are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying victims and any additional information that will assist them with this investigation.

The investigation continues.
