Police Impersonators Commit Home Invasion

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Robbery Bureau is investigating a home invasion robbery that involved police impersonators.  According to investigators, the victim, Carlos Hernandez, was driving his cargo van on S.W. 8 Street to conduct business when he observed a dark colored vehicle with police flashing lights.  Hernandez stopped his vehicle in the area of S.W. 88 Avenue.  Two armed subjects, wearing shirts with the word police, approached his vehicle from both sides and pointed their hand guns demanding Mr. Hernandez to move from the driver's seat.  The subjects entered the vehicle, tied Mr. Hernandez and took possession of the vehicle.  They then drove to his house and made contact with Maria Borges, who is the victim's girlfriend, tied her hands and ransacked the house.  The subjects were able to get away with personal property and a revolver. The subjects fled in Mr. Hernandez's vehicle. No one was injured during the incident.
