Homicide

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a 29 year old black male.

According to investigators, at approximately 2:24 p.m., 911 calls were received regarding shots fired in the area of 5120 N.W. 29 Avenue. Officers from Miami-Dade Schools Police Department arrived on scene and discovered the victim, Travis Riggins, shot multiple times in the upper torso. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Mr. Riggins deceased on scene.

Detectives say a subject dressed in dark colored clothing was observed running back to the passenger side of a white newer model SUV and fled westbound on NW 52 Street.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
