The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Saturday February 13th, which killed a 16 year old male and left a 15 year old critically injured.
Detectives say at approximately 11:54 p.m. officers responded to the scene of a reported shooting in the area of NW 73 Street and NW 19 Court. Arriving officers and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics found a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wounds. The 15 year old male victim, identified as Deon Fowles, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
On Sunday afternoon a passerby observed the body of a deceased black male in the area of NW 72 Street and NW 20 Avenue and called 9-1-1. Responding officers and MDFR paramedics discovered the deceased victim who was later identified as 16 year old, La-Nard Wilcher.
The preliminary investigation revealed victims Fowles and Wilcher were in the company of two other males, walking along the train tracks, when they were approached by several unknown black males who began to shoot at them. Deon Fowles was shot while running away from his assailants. His associates ran in different directions and did not realize La-Nard Wilcher had been shot.
