Miami-Dade man wanted for murder was arrested in the Cayman Islands.

Shot and killed a woman who was eight months pregnant.


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

Miami-Dade Police Department investigators provided information to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service that resulted in the arrest of the man who shot a pregnant woman.

According to investigators, Miami-Dade Police Department officers responded to 1945 NW 49 Street, in reference to shots fired. The officers found Heidy Bowen, visibly pregnant, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported Ms. Bowen to Jackson Memorial Hospital, Ryder Trauma Center, where doctors performed an emergency cesarean section in an attempt to save the mother and her baby.

On Monday, November 15, 2017, doctors declared 12 day-old Baby Bowen deceased. On Wednesday, January 3, 2018, Heidy Bowen succumbed to her injuries.

The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner Department classified both deaths as homicides.  Homicide investigators charged Wayne Collier for the deaths of Ms. Bowen and her baby.  It appears that Wayne Collier fled the country and was located in the Cayman Island by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Services.

The Miami-Dade Police Department intends to extradite Wayne Collier to the State of Florida, where he will face two counts of Second Degree Murder With A Deadly Weapon.
