(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating a shooting that resulted in a woman dead and a man injured.
According to investigators, a 911 call was received in reference to a shooting inside of a residence. Once officers arrived, they were confronted by two males who were running away from the residence. The two males informed the officers that two children remained inside. Officers attempted to make contact with anyone inside, but were unsuccessful. The Special Response Team (SRT) and hostage negotiators were summoned to the scene. As SRT members were rescuing the children through a window, they confirmed that there was a woman shot inside the residence. They then made entry and discovered a male suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the residence and pronounced the female deceased on the scene. The subject was transported to a local trauma center. The two children have been reunited with family members.
The investigation continues.
