Instructor molests several girls during swimming lessons.


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

Swimming instructor Daniel Diaz-Mejia has been arrested for lewd and lascivious molestation of five girls during their swimming lessons.

The mother of two 9-year-old girls told investigators with the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Sexual Crimes Unit that the swimming instructor touched both girls’ intimate areas under their swimsuits. Upon being interviewed by investigators, Diaz-Mejia admitted to the allegations and added that he had molested 2 additional female victims, ages 7 and 8. Investigators later confirmed the admissions.

As the investigation continued, the parent of another girl contacted the Special Victims Bureau and told investigators that her 7-year-old was molested by the swimming instructor.

Investigators filed a total 5 counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation on a child under 12.  Daniel Diaz-Mejia remains in custody at Turner Guilford Knight Detention Center. Investigators urge anyone that may have been a victim of Daniel Diaz-Mejia to contact the Special Victims Bureau at (305) 715-3300.
