Staged Crash & Insurance Fraud

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
The Miami-Dade Police Department, Economic Crimes Bureau is investigating a staged crash that includes insurance fraud. According to investigators, a motor vehicle crash was reported at the intersection of SW 190 Street and SW 124 Avenue. Once the uniform officer arrived to document the crash, both drivers and passengers advised that vehicle #1 rear-ended vehicle #2 and no injuries were reported. According to witnesses, after the initial collision, the driver of vehicle #2 exited his vehicle and got into vehicle #1, placed it in reverse and then drove forward once again striking vehicle #2 causing further damage.
Further investigation has revealed that the drivers and passengers involved in the crash, collectively have fraudulently claimed over $42,000.00 to their insurance companies for damages and medical bills. Investigators are seeking the assistance of the community in locating the four individuals that remain at large.
