Miami-Dade Police Homicide detectives are investigating a police-involved shooting. According to detectives, a city of Miami Beach Police Officer assigned to the Miami-Dade Police Department's Robbery Intervention Detail (RID) responded to this listed area after hearing gunfire. Upon arrival, the officer observed a vehicle (SUV) fleeing the area and immediately pursued. After a short pursuit, the subject bailed out the vehicle and fled on foot. He was subsequently located by the officer and a confrontation ensued. During the confrontation, the officer discharged his firearm, killing the subject on the scene. A records check of the subject's vehicle (SUV) identified it as a stolen vehicle from the Palm Beach area. As a reminder, 119.071(2)(c)1, F.S., exempts active criminal intelligence information and active criminal investigative information from public inspection.
