Real Estate Ponzi Scheme

Operation Not So Sweet Deal

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Miami-Dade Police Department, Economic Crimes Unit have been investigating a million dollar Real Estate Ponzi Scheme.

According to investigators, these suspects used their knowledge in the Mortgage and Real Estate Industry in order to make up an elaborate scheme to steal over a million dollars from unsuspecting victims.  Odalis Freixa, the master mind behind the scheme, conducted community outreach seminars and wrote a book titled “The American Dream It’s Not Forgotten”, in order to educate consumers of the current options home owners have in order to deal with foreclosures and loan modifications.  Mrs. Freixa came up with an elaborate Ponzi scheme to steal monies from unsuspecting victims, mostly friends she has known for many years, and defrauded them for over a million dollars during the course of seven years.  Marisela Gamez, the sister of Odalis Freixa, participated in this scheme by assisting in providing false contracts and using delay tactics to victims by lying to them on their position in the loan modification process and/or foreclosure properties that Mrs. Freixa was trying to sell to the unsuspecting victims.  Mrs. Freixa used several companies to help in the scheme “FL Home Holdings LLC, FL Home Loans LLC, FL Home Realty Services, LLC” and a not for profit corporation, “The H.E.R.O. Foundation, Inc.”, that she opened to further their scheme.

On October 19, 2012 a warrant was issued for their arrest and both subjects surrendered.  Miami-Dade Police Detectives are confident that there are other unreported victims.  Any persons who may have fallen victim to this scheme involving these women, or who may have had any dealings with the above companies, please contact the Miami- Dade Police Department’s Economic Crimes Bureau at (305) 994-1000 and request to speak to Detectives Rodriguez or Tamayo.
