(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred at the above listed location.  According to detectives, the officer was on routine patrol when he encountered the victim walking along the sidewalk with a shiny object in his waistband.  The officer approached the victim to conduct an investigation.  During the encounter, the officer commanded the victim to show his hands.  The victim made an attempt to retrieve the object and the officer fired his weapon, striking the victim.  The victim was transported via Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Kendall Regional where he is listed in stable but critical condition.  The officer sustained no injuries.
