Police-Involved Shooting (Update #1)


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department's, Homicide Bureau is investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred at the above listed location.  According to detectives, officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress at 3520 NW 79 Street and where advised the subject vehicle was described as a gray Isuzu.  Upon arriving on scene, the officer encounters a gray Isuzu and immediately orders both occupants out of the vehicle at gunpoint.  The passenger flees on foot and is at large.  The driver intentionally accelerates the vehicle towards the officer.  As the subject is driving towards the officer, she discharges her weapon as he strikes her vehicle and flees.  The officer locates the vehicle at NW 79 St and 32 Ave  involved in a crash with a white sedan.  The subject then flees on foot and is apprehended a few blocks away suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.  Both the subject and the accident victim were transported to the Ryder Trauma Center in critical but stable condition.  The officer did not sustain any injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available. 

Update #1:  Subject 1 has been identified and is listed above along with the criminal charges.
