Arrest Made on 2012 Case


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating a stabbing that occurred at above listed location. According to investigators, a 911 call was received in reference to a robbery in progress. Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim lying by the front door of the residence, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

On September 17, 2014, further investigation revealed that the subject, Alexander Pena and two other associates responded to the incident location where an altercation ensued resulting in the victim’s death. During the interview with Alexander Pena a second subject was then identified as Renell Jones.

On December 12, 2014 the investigators with the assistance of the Frederick Police Department and the Montgomery County Police Department located Renell Jones in Fredrick, Maryland where he was arrested for an unrelated warrant. Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, responded to Frederick, Maryland and interviewed Renell Jones, where he provided the investigators with a full confession detailing his involvement. Renell Jones was then booked at the Frederick County Correctional Center awaiting extradition to Miami.
