Police-Involved Shooting

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department's Homicide Bureau is investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred earlier this morning.  According to detectives, the officer was on patrol when he encountered the subject vehicle, a black Ford F150.  A routine records check revealed the vehicle was reported as stolen and the officer initiated a traffic stop.  As he approached the vehicle, the subject attempted to strike the officer with the vehicle and the officer discharged his firearm.  The subject fled westbound and a pursuit ensued.  The subject then bailed out of the vehicle at SW 232 Street and 187 Avenue where a perimeter was immediately established.  Blood evidence was found inside the vehicle leading investigators to believe the subject is possibly injured.  An active search is being conducted inside the perimeter and the investigation is ongoing.
