Shooting (Police-Involved)


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) is investigating a police-involved shooting.  According to investigators, MDPD detectives along with special agent(s) from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were conducting a narcotics investigation when they were ambushed by a gunman concealed in a vehicle.  After an exchange of gunfire, a MDPD detective and subject were both shot multiple times.  The detective was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he remains in stable condition after undergoing surgery.  The subject died shortly after the incident. 

A second subject was taken into custody and criminal charges are pending.  

The investigation remains active/ongoing.
