Police Involved Shooting

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating a police-involved shooting.  According to detectives, uniform officers responded to the report of a suspicious person in the area of 9221 N. Kendall Drive.  Upon arrival, officers confronted the subjects who then used their vehicle to strike the police vehicle as they fled the scene.  A pursuit ensued during which time the subject vehicle was observed driving erratically, at a high-rate of speed and striking several vehicles.  During the pursuit, the subjects tossed what appeared to be a handgun out of the window.  The vehicle came to a stop by crashing into a fence at NW 167 St, just west of NW 27 Ave.  A confrontation ensued and shots were fired.  All four subjects were taken into custody.  Two subjects sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center.  One subject is in critical condition and the other is stable.  Shortly, thereafter, a third subject was transported via ground for minor injuries to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
