Homicide


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating a homicide.  According to detectives, the victim had filed for divorce to end her marriage of over twenty years with the subject.  On September 4, 2012, the subject went to the victim's place of employment where a verbal altercation ensued, after which, the subject left.  The victim left work at approximately 9:30 p.m.  This was the last time she was seen or heard from by anyone and a missing person investigation was initiated.  Through investigative means, detectives determined foul play and the Homicide Bureau assumed the investigation. 

On February 8, 2013, Homicide detectives interviewed the subject.  Subsequent to statements made during the interview, the subject was arrested and charges filed.  As of this date, the victim's body has not been recovered and she is presumed deceased. 

UPDATE #1:  Over a year later, investigators continue to follow leads in the case and their efforts led them to a canal in West Miami-Dade.  Through investigative means, detective where able to locate the victim's vehicle submerged in a canal on Krome Avenue, one mile north of Tamiami Trail (SW 8 Street).  Once the vehicle was removed from the water, investigators discovered human remains inside.  The vehicle was transferred to the Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation.  The Medical Examiner's Office will provide an official identification of the human remains. 

UPDATE #2:  According to the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner's Department, the humans remains discovered in the listed vehicle have been identified as that of Raquel Maria Calderin.  There is no further information available at this time.
