Operation Cool Down

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Town of Cutler Bay, General Investigations Unit, in collaboration with the Hammocks District, Hialeah Police Department, State Attorney's Office and the Town of Cutler Bay have concluded an investigation involving stolen air-conditioning units totaling over $1.5 million dollars.  The investigation began approximately one year ago when detectives recovered a stolen air-conditioning unit from a housing development.  Through investigative means they were able to identify a ring of individuals who were targeting new housing developments and stealing the A/C units.  These individuals were also burglarizing the homes to remove the inside A/C units as well.  Investigators caught the subjects on video as they removed the units from the residences.

This morning all of the subjects were taken into custody without incident and charged accordingly.
