Off-Duty Officer Shot - Update #1


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating an armed robbery that resulted in an off-duty officer shot.  According to investigators, the off-duty officer was volunteering at his church.  As he exited the rear of the church to clean his vehicle, he was confronted by three armed black males demanding property.  The subjects took some personal property and shot the officer in the chest.  They then fled in a red 2007-2008 Pontiac G6 in an unknown direction.  The officer called 911 and was transported by the responding unit to Ryder Trauma Center where he is listed in stable condition.  The officer has been with the department for 6 years and has over 10 years of law enforcement experience.

Update #1: Through investigative means, detectives were able to locate and arrest the three individuals responsible for the shooting involving the officer.  The officer has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home.
